I saw a program about why people collect status symbols.
Because when we grow up we feel unpopular/unliked/unloved for whatever reason.
But we all want those things from the society. Big houses, flash cars, pretty girls,gold chains, personalized number plates etc are respected by society.
My personal feeling is that having Personalized number plates is the best way to get noticed and become famous. They are an investment as well as a popular self esteem boost. When it becomes unloved you should be able to make a profit when selling it.
